# Delete your account
> Deleting your Zas account removes it and everything in it. It takes the same two taps as signing up, and there is no retention offer.
Leaving Zas is as easy as joining it. There is no survey, no cooling-off screen, and no offer to stay.
## Delete one thing
You can delete any item or any channel from the app, at any time. The space comes back immediately.
## Delete everything
Open **Settings** and choose **Delete my account**.
That removes your account, or your anonymous session, with everything in it.
Export first if you want to keep anything. [Export everything](/en/using-zas/export) packs your items into a single ZIP.
## Anonymous sessions delete themselves
An anonymous session expires on its own: two days for its items, and 30 minutes if you opened it and sent nothing.
You do not have to do anything.
## The honest limits of deletion
Deletion can continue in the background after the server accepts the request.
For a legacy file that the browser cannot open, the server cannot safely identify its encrypted shared chunks. It removes the item record, and unpinned chunks keep their existing expiry. A historical pinned chunk can remain, because deleting it could affect another person.
Providers can also retain backups and security logs for their normal retention periods.
Clearing site or app data clears normal local storage on your device. It does not delete a copy you saved outside Zas, or a copy the operating system kept.
## Ask by email instead
You can also request deletion by writing to the privacy contact listed on the [Zas privacy policy](https://zas.red/privacy).
Where Argentina's Law 25,326 applies, Zas answers a deletion request within 5 business days.
