# What Zas is

> Zas moves files, photos, video, text and code between your own devices in seconds. Everything deletes itself after five days.

Zas is a corridor, not a warehouse.

You send something from one device. It appears on your other devices. After five days it deletes itself. You do not clean up, and you do not pay rent on space.

## Start in the browser

Open [zas.red](https://zas.red) and send something. You do not need an account, and you do not need to install anything.

This matters on a locked-down work computer. Zas is a web page, so there is nothing to install and nothing to ask IT for.

## Two ways to send

Zas has two send paths. It picks the one that fits what you are sending.

| | Stored in Zas | Direct transfer |
| - | - | - |
| Where the file goes | Encrypted on Zas servers | Device to device |
| Both devices open at once | Not needed | Needed |
| Free size limit | 50 MB | 10 GB |
| How long it lives | 5 days | The length of the transfer |

Read [Two ways to send](/en/concepts/index) for the full comparison.

### From a coding agent

Claude Code, Codex or any MCP client can send into your channels too, under an identity you approve and can revoke. See [Agents](/en/agents/index).

## What Zas does not do

Zas does not sell storage, retention, or recovery of an item that already left. There is no archive to search and no folder to tidy.

If you need a file next month, keep it somewhere built for that. Zas moves it there.
