# Use Zas without an account

> An anonymous Zas session needs no sign-in. The web address is the key. It holds 30 MB, items last two days, and signing in keeps everything.

Open [zas.red](https://zas.red) and you can send immediately. Zas creates an anonymous session for you.

<Warning>
  The web address **is** the credential. Anyone who has that address has the session. There is no password to add and no way to recover it if you lose the address.
</Warning>

## What an anonymous session gives you

| Limit | Value |
| - | - |
| Total storage | 30 MB |
| Largest stored file | 30 MB |
| Item life | 2 days |
| Largest direct transfer | 5 GB |
| Channels | The session channel only |
| Pins | None |

An empty session does not stick around. If you open Zas, send nothing, and leave, the session is deleted after 30 minutes.

## Move the session to another device

Every anonymous session shows a QR code. Scan it with the second device and that device joins the same session. No account, no typing.

Use this for a print shop, a hotel computer, or a machine you do not own. You never sign a real account into that machine.

## Sign in and keep everything

Signing in converts the anonymous session into your account.

Nothing re-uploads. Nothing is lost. The items you already sent stay where they are and pick up the account limits.

| After you sign in | Value |
| - | - |
| Total storage | 100 MB |
| Largest stored file | 50 MB |
| Item life | 5 days |
| Largest direct transfer | 10 GB |
| Channels | Your private channel, plus 5 |
| Pins | 15, plus the ones you earn |

## On phones and tablets

The iPhone, iPad and Android apps always use an account. They do not offer anonymous sessions.

Anonymous sessions are a web feature, because the web is where you land on a machine that is not yours.
