# Channels

> Your Private channel is yours alone. Shared channels let a small group pass things around under the same five-day rules. Invites expire in seven days.

A channel is where items land. Everything you send goes into one.

## Your Private channel

Every account has a **Private** channel. Only you see it, on every device you signed in on.

It is never shared. Zas refuses to share it, because that is what makes it trustworthy.

## Shared channels

A shared channel is for a small, known group: a couple of colleagues, a family, a project.

The same rules apply inside it. Items expire in five days. Nothing accumulates.

| Plan | Channels besides Private |
| - | - |
| Without an account | None. You get the session channel only. |
| Free plan | 5 |

## Inviting people

Open a channel and choose **Share channel**. Zas creates an invite you can send as a link or a QR code.

<Warning>
  An invite link expires after **7 days**, or as soon as the channel is full. A channel holds **50 people**.
</Warning>

You decide what an invited person can do:

<CardGroup cols={2}>
  <Card title="Full member" icon="user-check">
    They open, download and send.
  </Card>

  <Card title="Read-only" icon="eye">
    They come in read-only: they open and download, and do not send.
  </Card>
</CardGroup>

There is also a **Members can invite too** switch. Leave it off and only you bring people in. While a channel is read-only, only you can invite.

## Managing invites

The channel's share panel lists every active link and how many times each was used.

Revoke a link and it stops working immediately. Create a new one whenever you want. A revoked link does not remove anyone who already joined.

## Every new person earns everyone a pin

When someone who is new to Zas joins a channel you are in, **every member of that channel gains one permanent extra pin**.

This stacks up to **+20**. On the free plan that takes you from 15 pins to as many as 35.

<Card title="Pins" icon="thumbtack" href="/en/using-zas/pins">
  How pins pause the countdown.
</Card>

## Agents in a channel

You can let a [coding agent](/en/agents/index) use a channel you own. It gets that channel's key, sends into it, and reads it only if you switch reading on.

A channel with an agent shows the `>_` mark next to its name, and a strip above the items naming each agent and what it may do. Remove an agent from there, or from **Settings → Agents**.

An agent can use a channel your own account owns. You can also grant a channel you joined, but the agent gets in only after that channel's owner allows it. As a channel owner, you see the request in the strip above the items, with **Allow** and **Refuse**. See [Channels you joined](/en/agents/grants#channels-you-joined).

A channel an organization manages is out of reach, unless an administrator turns **Agents in organization channels** on in Permissions. With that on, your agent reaches the organization channels you are a member of. See [Agents in an organization](/en/agents/enterprise).

## Leaving

Leaving a channel removes it from your list. Items you sent to it stay with the channel until they expire on their own.
