Zas has two ways in: an anonymous session, or an account. An account raises your limits, works on phones and tablets, and keeps your channels across devices.

Three ways in

You sign in with Google, with Apple, or with an 8-digit code sent to your email address. All three run through Firebase Authentication. With Google or Apple, Zas receives your email address, name and profile photo. It uses them to identify you and to show your channels. If you use Hide My Email, Zas receives the forwarding address that Apple creates, and nothing more.
Zas does not keep a separate password. There is nothing to choose, nothing to rotate, and nothing to leak.

Signing in with an email code

If you would rather not use Google or Apple, choose Email me a code.
1

Type your email address

Zas sends an 8-digit code to that address, from noreply@zas.red.
2

Enter the code in the same window

Keep the Zas window open. The code works only in the window that asked for it.
3

Use the newest code, within ten minutes

A code expires after 10 minutes. If you asked more than once, only the newest email works.
Nobody at Zas will ever ask you for a sign-in code. Enter it only in the Zas window you opened yourself.

What signing in changes

If you were already using an anonymous session, signing in converts it. Nothing re-uploads and nothing is lost.

Getting back in

There is no separate recovery step, because there is no Zas password to lose. Sign in again the way you signed in before: the same Google account, the same Apple ID, or a fresh code to the same email address. Your channels and your items are waiting. What you cannot get back is an account whose email address you no longer control. Anyone who can read that mailbox can ask for a code, so treat the mailbox as the account.

What Zas cannot recover

The encryption is the point, and it carries a cost worth saying plainly.A public link carries its key in the link itself. An anonymous session lives behind the link that holds its code. If you lose that link, Zas provides no reset and no support process that replaces it. This is not a missing feature, and it is not planned.

Phones and tablets

The iPhone, iPad and Android apps always use an account. They have no anonymous sessions.
