Zas opens on the composer. There is one box, and it takes anything.

Four ways to put something in

Paste

Copy on any device, paste at zas.red. Text, a screenshot, a file. No form and no folder to choose.

Drag

Drop a file onto the page.

Type

Write a note. It is an item like any other.

Share

On Android, Zas is a system share target. On iPhone and iPad it is in the share sheet.

What arrives

The file you sent, byte for byte. Zas does not compress and does not re-encode. A photo keeps its resolution. A video keeps its quality. Code arrives as code: monospaced, coloured, with the language already set.

Where it goes

Every item lands in a channel. By default that is your Private channel, which only you can see, on every device you signed in on. To send to other people, put the item in a shared channel instead.

Channels

Shared channels, invites, and read-only guests.

Limits are shown first

Zas checks the size before it starts, not after the upload fails. If a file is too large to store on your plan, Zas tells you at that moment and offers Direct transfer instead.

Receiving

There is nothing to accept. Open Zas on the other device and the item is there, with its ring already counting down. Open it, copy it, or download it. Then leave it alone and it deletes itself.

Previews and thumbnails

Zas makes image thumbnails on your own device and carries them inside the encrypted item. The server never builds a preview of your file. One exception is a link preview. If you ask Zas to preview an external web address, the server has to fetch that address, so it sees it. That is the only case, and Zas only does it when you ask.
