Everything in Zas leaves on its own. That is the point of the product, not a limitation of it.

The ring

Every item carries a ring with five segments. One segment is one day. A full ring is a full life. As the days pass the segments empty. When the ring is empty, the item deletes itself and its space comes back to you. You do not confirm anything and you do not clean anything up.

How long things last

Asking for less

Five days is the ceiling, not the only answer. A sender can ask for a shorter life, down to one whole day. A coding agent does this with expires_in_days on either of its sending tools, which is what makes a build log or a test run leave tomorrow instead of on Friday. The request can only take time away. Asking for longer than your plan grants is answered with your plan’s number rather than refused, and one day is the floor because the ring counts whole days. An item with one day left draws a single segment and reads leaves today.

Pausing the clock

Pinning an item pauses its countdown. The ring stops where it is. Release the pin later and the countdown resumes from exactly that point. A pin does not reset the clock and does not add days. It holds the remainder. An item pinned with two days left will still have two days left when you release it, whether that is tomorrow or next March.

Pins

How many pins you get, and how you earn more.

Nothing expires quietly

Zas shows you the ring on every item, everywhere. The countdown is never hidden behind a menu. A pinned item holds its storage space for as long as it stays pinned. That is the trade: you keep it, and it keeps counting against your total.

There is no undelete

When an item expires it is gone. Nobody at Zas can bring it back, and there is no trash to check. This is deliberate. Zas does not sell retention or recovery, so it does not build them. If you need something after five days, move it somewhere built to keep it before the ring empties. Export downloads everything you hold as one ZIP.
